Overview
The Introduction class covers the first six classes (usually) over consecutive Wednesday evenings – these classes are the perfect introduction to the Club and trainers for owners and dogs. This class is intended for new members or exisistng members with young dogs although there is no upper age limit.
Over the first 6 weeks you will learn the essential basic commands while handlers learn techniques and consistency in training and the role and importance of rewards in the training process.
NOTE: We ask you to complete all weeks of the Introduction class if possible, as you will learn different things on each of those weeks and you will then have a good grounding to move on to our Starters Class.
We do not give refunds unless under exceptional circumstances, which would have to be agreed on by our Committee.
BEHAVIOUR: Dogs attending our classes are expected to be UNDER CONTROL at all times. Please note that our trainers, whilst highly experienced, are NOT qualified animal behaviourists so owners of dogs exhibiting behavioural problems, particularly aggressive behaviour, should seek professional advice from a qualified behaviourist-your veterinary practice should be able to make a referral.

Due to the conditions of the Club’s insurance, only members are allowed to be in control of a dog whilst in the Village Hall. Therefore, members of the family and/or friends who wish to train (or even hold) the dog in the Halls must join the club along with the main handler. We strongly recommend your dog is vaccinated and that you work your dog on a collar not a harness.
Membership Costs;
Single – £6.00
Joint – £8.00
Junior – £3.00
Membership runs from 01st January to 31st December
Please book in at the desk each week before your class, so we can keep our register up to date.
If you know you cannot take up your place on the date given to you, please e mail our Secretary, cedts.sec@gmail.com – and you will be transferred onto the next available class – please note that this may not be the immediately following 6 weeks. In your message, please tell us your name, your dog’s name and your phone number.
If you miss a week, you may continue to attend but please note that time will not permit the class instructor to repeat what was covered the previous week.
If your dog is ill or in season and needs to miss a class (or classes), you may still attend on your own without him/her. It is a good idea to bring a notepad and pen with you, watch the class and take notes. If you know that your dog will be missing the next lesson, bring a notepad and pen the week before and ask the instructor to explain what will be covered that week. That way you can practise the new points at home and you will not fall behind the rest of your class.
